ALTIUS is an independent Belgian law firm based in Brussels (Tour & Taxis). ALTIUS currently has about 65 lawyers and 25 staff members. We are a full-service law firm and we advise Belgian and international companies on the legal aspects of their businesses, transactions and disputes. We invite you to apply if:
- You are a law student in a Belgian university and you are currently in your 3rd Bachelor, 1st or 2nd Master and have plans to follow an additional year of study;
- You are available during one of the winter months or during the summer in July, August or September 2024;
- You are fluent in French or Dutch and in English. Your level of the other national language is suitable for professional use.
- You possess excellent writing skills;
- You prefer a pragmatic and hands-on approach.
- You are an open and enthusiastic team player, highly motivated and internationally oriented.
- You are not afraid to speak your mind, you have an entrepreneurial spirit and don’t always choose the more conventional path.
What we offer:
- A one month internship offering the opportunity to discover our internationally oriented work environment and the professional, friendly, pleasant and collaborative atmosphere in the office;
- During one month you will join one of our teams: Commercial, Competition, Real Estate, Regulatory, Intellectual Property, Dispute Resolution, Corporate and M&A, Banking & Finance, Employment or Sports Law;
- During your internship you will work in our newly refurbished office in the magnificent Royal Depot building on the Tour & Taxis site – easily accessible by car and by train from Gare du Nord.

I discovered ALTIUS through the ALTIUS Experience and decided to pursue my internship here. From the start, I felt welcomed into the Employment team, where I worked on a variety of tasks, including drafting legal conclusions and participating in larger, ongoing projects. The team was very supportive and provided valuable insights on all aspects of being a lawyer, which greatly enhanced my learning experience.
The open and dynamic culture at ALTIUS, combined with the fantastic office environment at Tour & Taxis, made every day at work enjoyable. I appreciated the transparency and accessibility of everyone, from associates to partners, which made it easy to ask questions and seek advice. This internship helped me gain clarity on my future career path.
Overall, ALTIUS strikes a perfect balance between professionalism and approachability. It’s an ideal place for any aspiring lawyer looking to gain practical experience in a supportive yet challenging environment. I would highly recommend it to other students.

Summer Intern Dispute Resolution team, September 2024
I first learned about ALTIUS during job days and through a friend who had participated in the ALTIUS Experience. My first impression was that it’s a diverse firm with a close-knit, almost familial feel. This impression was confirmed during my internship in the Dispute Resolution team, where I was given responsibility for conducting legal research and assisting Geoffrey with client matters. The autonomy I was granted, combined with the team’s support, made the experience both rewarding and educational. The team was always available when needed and provided valuable feedback.
While much of the work was independent, the overall atmosphere was friendly and supportive, and I connected well with younger colleagues, especially during lunch breaks. I also appreciated how ALTIUS maintains a balance between work and personal life, which is often difficult to find in law firms. The flexible nature of the firm, including allowing me to reschedule my internship, was another highlight.
This internship has been pivotal in helping me refine my career choices. I now have a clearer idea of the path I want to follow, and I would definitely recommend ALTIUS to other law students seeking a balanced, enriching experience in a dynamic firm.
